“This season started with the concept ‘Gothic grandma,’” explained Reid Baker, who added the spring collection is also chockablock with themes the brand has used before. “This idea of contrast lived within the collection.”
A black-and-white floral pattern and leopard-spotted one adorned the same jacket side-by-side.
He and Inês Amorim, the other half of the Ernest W. Baker design duo, took a “grandma-esque” checkered fabric and cut it into a bomber and leather track jacket. “It’s this idea of contrast and subverting tradition,” Baker said.
A classic argyle vest got jazzed up with “Gothic” hand-embroidered paillettes and beads. A blazer came adorned with a retro brooch.

This rich collection had sleek sartorial cuts. Jade was the new color injected into the lineup. Helping to build out the collection, too, were gloves with crochet detailing.
“We put our heart into creating very elegant, very elevated pieces,” Baker said. “It’s important to put something out there that is an extension of who we are and what we believe in.”
